Action Safety Ltd was established in 2006 by Jim Ranyard, a former staff member at Yorkshire Television in Leeds where he worked for 25 years in television and film production.
“Originally a member of the award winning YTV Film Department, I worked as a boom operator and sound recordist on a huge variety of productions in all genres, including documentary, drama, education, children’s television and news, features and current affairs. My last few years at YTV were spent in regional programming as a technical supervisor looking after location crews, planning and supervising outside broadcasts and live news coverage, and in production management roles.
I began working with the Health and Safety Department and safety committee at YTV as regional programmes representative, and obtained my first Nebosh qualification through the Granada Group training scheme. Due to a reorganisation and downsizing of ITV news in 2005 I left YTV and studied for the Nebosh Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, achieving this in July 2007. I am a graduate member of IOSH, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Action Safety Ltd is a health and safety services, training and advisory company working mainly in the areas of film, television, theatre and the entertainments industries drawing on my forty-three years of professional experience and utilising the services of many highly experienced colleagues from the television and film industry to ensure the best possible service is given to clients at the most reasonable rates.”
